Backflow Preventer Tester Recertification Course
Day One: Review 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Day Two: Exam 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
Previous BPS Course attendees: Attendee must possess a Certificate of Attendance from a previous 40-hour tester certification course offered by BPS.
Previous Non-BPS certified attendees: As a courtesy to previously certified testers, BPS will consider offering recertification to non-BPS certified testers if the prospective attendee can demonstrate knowledge of the backflow industry and testing procedures. The prospective attendee must show proof of certification by providing a copy of a previously obtained certification or recertification certificate.
About the Course
The Review features classroom and hands-on instruction during the morning with hands-on practice in the afternoon.
The Exam includes written and practical examinations administered beginning at 8:00 am. The attendee will be allowed no more than 1 hour to complete the written exam and no more than 30 minutes to complete the practical examination.
Classroom instruction includes:
- Installation guidelines
- Testing procedures
- Review of cross connection control and backflow prevention general information
Hands-on instruction includes a demonstration of the proper testing procedure along with attendee practice.
Examination includes a written exam followed by a hands-on practical exam. Attendees must pass both written and hands-on practical exam without instructions in order to receive recertification.
Daily breaks are scheduled and attendees are responsible for their own lunch.
